Reshape. Resize. Rejuvenate.
Labiaplasty is a plastic surgery procedure that alters the shape and size of the labia, or folds of skin around the vulva. It can treat both the labia minora (inner folds) and labia majora (outer folds) to make their shape more aesthetically pleasing and physically comfortable. Dr. Genoway does this by surgically altering the labia into a shape that better fits your body and goals.
Feel like yourself
The benefits of labiaplasty are both functional and cosmetic. If you have excess labia, it can cause discomfort, irritation, and pain. In other cases, the labia can change size and shape after childbirth and become uncomfortable. In the cases of male to female gender affirming surgery, labiaplasty is a key milestone on the journey to affirmation.
Your body. Your decision.
If you find it uncomfortable to wear form-fitting clothing or you suffer from discomfort during sex due to your labia, these are two of the most common reasons for labiaplasty. In other cases, changing the size and shape of the labia is a personal aesthetic choice. No matter the situation, there are physical and psychological factors to consider when choosing labiaplasty. Dr. Genoway treats you with empathy and compassion, and gives you time to make sure you get your questions answered and understand the changes possible with our Surrey labiaplasty as part of your consultation.
Most healthy adults are physically capable of undergoing labiaplasty safely, but Dr. Genoway will review your health history and your goals to make sure that you can do so without unnecessary risk. If you plan on having more children via vaginal birth, you may want to consider postponing your labiaplasty until you have reached your family planning goals.
Labiaplasty + Combination and alternative procedures to labiaplasty
Labia majoraplasty refers to a type of surgical labiaplasty that alters the appearance of the outer labia. If the labia feel too large or cumbersome, labia majoraplasty can reduce that feeling, improving comfort for activities like bike riding. Alternatively, labial fat grafting can add fullness to the outer labia in a minimally-invasive procedure, resulting in a more even, full outer labia and mons pubis. This is also why it gets the name “labial puffing.”
Clitoral hood reduction is a surgical procedure that reduces excess skin on top of or around the clitoris. In some cases, extra folds of skin can cause irritation and make it harder for women to achieve orgasm during sex. Clitoral hood reduction can improve these issues as well as meeting your aesthetic goals. Dr. Genoway can perform this procedure on its own, or at the same time as a labiaplasty.
If you want to have a tighter vagina for increased sexual pleasure or to treat pelvic floor issues, you may be looking for a vaginoplasty. Vaginoplasty creates or repairs the vagina, treats vaginal injuries, and can increase tightness. Studies show that up to 90 percent of vaginoplasty patients experience increased sexual stimulation following surgery. Dr. Genoway can perform this surgery at the same time as labiaplasty, or as a standalone procedure.
Non-surgical G-Spot enhancement uses platelet-rich plasma from your blood, dermal fillers, or a combination of both to increase the size of your g-spot, making it easier to receive G-Spot stimulation during sex. This procedure is a non-surgical way to improve your sex life with little or no downtime. In most cases, you can have sex in as little as four hours after your treatment!
Refined Techniques. Refined Results.
There are multiple labiaplasty techniques, and the best one is the one that is best for you. As one of Canada’s leading plastic surgeons in feminizing procedures, Dr. Krista Genoway has a thorough understanding of these techniques. During your consultation, she will review your goals and help you choose the surgery plan that gives you the best chance of achieving them.
When it comes time for your surgery, your Surrey vaginal rejuvenation procedure will be on an outpatient basis that Dr. Genoway will perform under local or general anesthesia, depending on the chosen procedure. She will discuss your options before surgery, so you are able to properly plan for your recovery. Once prepared, Dr. Genoway will carefully sculpt your skin to the desired outcome, then stitch the incisions closed.
Healing + Care
The postoperative recovery period for our Surrey labiaplasty procedures are comparatively short. Most patients are able to return to work in un-strenuous conditions within three to four days of surgery. Dr. Genoway schedules her patients in for follow-up appointments within a week of surgery to ensure a smooth recovery. As part of your surgery plan, Dr. Genoway will go over home recovery care techniques and tips to ensure the best chance for a healthy recovery. Most patients fully recover within a month of surgery. It is important to avoid vaginal sexual intercourse, not use tampons, and not wear tight clothes (including thong underwear) for four weeks after surgery.
The Female Aesthetic
Labiaplasty is not about “making” yourself beautiful. Dr. Genoway believes that comes from within. Labiaplasty is about giving you the freedom to choose. With a Genoway-performed labiaplasty Surrey area residents like *you* can increase your freedom to wear what you are able to wear, do what you want to do, and love how you want to love. Once your recovery is complete, the changes of labiaplasty are usually permanent, making this an incredible once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to sculpt your body and shape your identity.
You will be properly anesthetized before surgery and will not feel anything during the procedure. As the anesthesia wears off, you will likely experience some level of swelling and discomfort, although this is different for each patient based on their treatment and pain tolerance. Dr. Genoway will go through the specifics of the procedure with you to make your recovery as comfortable as possible.
All surgery has risks. With labiaplasty, the most common side effects are infection, bleeding, asymmetry, under-correction, and over-correction. Selecting an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Genoway can help you reduce these risks.
Labiaplasty is an elective cosmetic procedure and MSP insurance does not cover it.
In some cases, trimming the skin of the inner labia can increase the sensation of vaginal tightness, although this is not the primary reason to have the procedure. Dr. Genoway also performs procedures like vaginoplasty to increase vaginal tightness, along with other vaginal rejuvenation procedures that can enhance sexual pleasure.
